Watching the Cherry Blossom

Minor edits: Forgot to colour the eyes and the back of Ayumi's hair...and also, it's hard to find the right size for this file...

Here is Taiko and his family. Watching the cherry blossoms~

In order of age, it's Kaishin and Ayumi the oldest twins (The male by the tree and the girl at the front on her side). "Ayumi" was the name of Reiboku's deceased girlfriend, so he honoured her by naming his first daughter after her. "Ayumi" means "progress or advancement" so "Kaishin" means "progression" as well.
Next is Taiko, but you already kind of know him.
Next is Katsumaru, the other girl who looks like a female version of Sesshomaru. Because she looks like Sesshomaru, "maru" is to honour him. However, since "sessho" means "Destruction" or "death", "katsu" means "life". "Katsu" is also her nickname and makes me think of an odd pronounciation of "cat".
Finally, last but not least is "Tamagoshi". He is the youngest, and is a sort of Reiboku-junior. "Reiboku" means "Sacred tree" and "Tamagoshi" means "Branch of sacred tree" ...so,yeah.

Let's see...I designed all of their outfits and chose the colours for Taiko's and Tama's...however, my mum chose the colours for the others because I couldn't think of any...because of that, they look a lot cooler...I just suck at detailing...oh well, they're nice and I don't mind that much.

I used all sorts of brushes for the background, making up the cherry blossom one myself. I also used a different style of colouring, similar to the style used in Taiko's picture. I used the lasso tool to fill the base colours, then locked the pixels so I could colour them on their own, which helped a lot because I didn't have to clean up all of my messy colouring like I used to. It was fun....I would have coloured all of the lineart...but I got tired and lazy of it..

It took me a while. Last night I drew a page of different poses of them all, and in the end I just scanned them and picked the best ones. I think having a series of all of my favourite families in my "fanfiction" all watching the cherry blossoms would be nice, but when I think of it, I think it'd be hard to change the background ...a tree on the side, then the other side, then the middle, or no tree and just spontaneous sakura blossoms...who knows. I might do it with Hourei, Tano and their daughters (I didn't say that they were papas? WELL THEY ARE 8D)
